Water shoes and their features
As the name suggests, these shoes are types of footwear designed to be used in water or wet areas. They are made of materials that provide quick water drainage and speedy drying out. The soles of these shoes include little bumps that serve as cups that drain the water in a matter of seconds.
Such footwear is ideal for activities that happen in or around the water. However, quick drainage is not their only feature. People use this specialised footwear for many purposes, such as protection, safety, and support. That is why there are different types of water shoes, so what are the characteristics?
These are the most common characteristics found in water footwear:
-
They are made of thin mesh materials that allow quick drying out.
-
Their thin structures enable outstanding grip, making the shoes adequate for water sports and exploration of unfamiliar terrains.
-
Some water footwear comes with solid yet flexible soles. This is perfect for extreme water sports, such as kayaking, canoeing, and surfboarding.
-
They are significantly hygienic considering they include a smooth upper part that prevents debris or dirt from buildup inside the shoes.
-
They protect your feet from different kinds of parasites – generally found in or around water.
-
Their thin materials and lightweight make them comfortable for any kind of activity or sport.
Barefoot water shoes and their features
Walking without any shoes on your feet is the most pleasant feeling, right? That is the main reason why people have invented barefoot shoes. These shoes are called “barefoot” because they give you the feeling as if you are walking without anything on your feet. They inhibit the movement of your feet allowing you to move freely while still providing protection and safety.
You are going to love wearing barefoot shoes simply because they feel natural and they keep your feet cool. This kind of footwear is ideal for different kinds of areas and terrains. They are ideal for both wet and dry grounds, and they work magically in unfamiliar places – where sharp rocks and other harmful objects might be present.
Barefoot water shoes are characterised by unique features that cannot be found in other types of footwear. They are ideal for water sports and activities, but they can be also used for hiking, especially in areas that are known to be slippery.
Here are some of the most common features found in barefoot water footwear:
-
They are completely flat, so they provide stability when walking.
-
Their foot-shaped feature enables the normal and natural function of the feet. In addition, it prevents toe deformities, such as bunions.
-
Their flexibility provides strength for the foot muscles, leading to increased mobility of the feet and pain prevention.
-
They are made of thin materials, so they allow confident and strong movement.
What are the differences between these two types of footwear?
You may wonder what all the fuss is about water footwear since all of these shoe types look similar. If you have thought that barefoot water shoes are the same as regular water footwear, you are not the only one. However, there are some significant differences that can be crucial when choosing the appropriate footwear for a particular purpose.
First, barefoot shoes provide more stability in comparison to regular water footwear. They have more solid soles, so when you move your feet are stronger and you get to walk more confidently. The soles are more flexible, so walking around steep or rocky areas is easier. Moreover, barefoot water footwear allows feet to breathe because of their wider toe area, which is actually in the shape of a regular foot.
On the other hand, regular water shoes are more open, so they give an opportunity for your feet to breathe. This way you can prevent chafing and blisters, which can be quite annoying and hurtful. Also, the soles on water footwear are particularly designed to help you avoid injuries. However, unlike barefoot footwear, regular shoes are not made in the shape of a foot, so the narrow toe area can easily overheat your feet.
Which type of footwear should you choose for your activities?
The truth is that both types of footwear can be convenient for multiple purposes. Nonetheless, shoes that are shaped in the form of a foot are more beneficial for the health of your feet. Namely, you need something that will allow you to walk naturally, and at the same time, provide you with a significant amount of support and protection.
Barefoot footwear will keep your feet safe and comfortable at all times. You can use this kind of shoes in different environments, and since they are lightweight you will feel as if you are wearing feathers on your feet.

I want to try either the water shoes or the barefoot shoes. I have a lot of questions. For starters concerning the water shoes, when I look at what you have to offer there are several shoes with different descriptions and possibly from what I can see in the pictures different construction types inside the shoe. But I can’t tell that for sure from the pictures. Some shoes talk about have sock liners and others don’t . I want something that allows for hour long or longer walks on the beach for example that are good for few blister possibilities. I walk an hour or more every day in regular walking shoes with no problems. From what I could determine while read about barefoot shoes they may require a time build up before long walks but may have a better foot profile to help with blisters more so than the water shoes. I would like to figure out what would work best and buy a pair or two of something. Is there anyway you can help me figure out what to do? I have no experience with water shoes or barefoot shoes. Thanks for your help in advance. It would be much easier for me to talk to someone that try to chat or email.
